Vanguard Model Based Testing Process
Today’s software systems are designed from a number of systems design artefacts and models. Some of these models are UML based, however, applications are being composed from software artefacts that were generated from a large number of different domain specific languages and modeling tools.
Traditionally Model Based Testing involved the creation of a test model, often based on UML state chart plus an action language which was processed by tools such as Conformiq Test Generator to automatically generate test cases which was sent to the system under test (SUT). Feed back from the SUT would also be fed back into the Test Generator to drive additional test generation.
Vanguard believes that this is a very effective process and partners with Conformiq to provide Model Based Testing Services based on this approach. The screen below shows a typical Conformiq state model.

However companies have made a substantial investment in software design models and would like to take their design models and use them to automatically create test models. With the Vanguard Model Based Testing Process (VMBTP) they now have the option of using their application design models to automatically create test cases. The Vanguard Model Based Testing Process takes a variety of software design models and, using Domain Specific Language tools, converts them into a number of software test models in a format that can be processed by Conformiq Test Generator.
