Model-Based Managed Services Partnership Programme

Model-based testing offers the potential for substantial increase in software quality whilst at the same time a significant reduction in software testing costs.  The improvement in software quality comes from the ability to create a test model of the system under test so that it accurately reflects user requirements and then using this test model to automatically create test cases and the oracle required to determine automatically the success and failure of each response from a test case.   Since test cases do not have to be manually written and maintained there is also a significant reduction in the normal labour costs associated with software testing.

However the key to the success of model based testing is the expertise required to accurately create the test model and this is where Vanguard Managed Services can assist you.

Our Managed Services operations are implemented as follows:

• We seek to enter into a partnership with your company whereby we gain an understanding of you current software and system testing costs, number of software projects, planned schedule of software releases, likely “hot fix” releases, test software and people costs over a year or project duration.

• Using the Model-Based Testing metrics based on our internal and industry standards we then determine the total resources that the Vanguard solution will require to undertake your testing requirements.

• We then determine the total value-add that our Model-based services will bring to your operations.  We seek to reach with a partnership agreement on how we will share the value that we create.  Our partnership agreement will specify the share of value that you will receive in reduction in your testing costs whilst at the same time it will specify the investments and payments that you will make to Vanguard for the value we create.

• Since partnership agreements can take a great deal of time from senior directors we do not expect to be making any approaches to your company unless our initial investigations indicate that we can bring significant value to your company.  This prevents both of us wasting time starting discussions if we can only bring marginal benefits to your company.

• Vanguard will then start to implement our model-based testing services in partnership with your company and using our expertise will develop all required test models for functional, systems integration and performance testing required.  Furthermore we will handle all the actual testing and also modifications required by the test model to reflect new requirements and to then implement any required regression testing.

• Vanguard will monitor, with your staff, our post implementation results to ensure that we are making the required levels of value add as was projected in the partnership agreement.  If we are not meeting them then payments from your company can be adjusted in light of the partnership agreement.  If we exceed our ROI forecasts then we can share the additional increase in value according to the partnership agreement.
